Ca. Marine Regulations 2008

Chart updated Jan 1, 2008

Click on the fish name for a picture.

Certain species are open to divers and shore based anglers year round, but closed to boat based anglers. These are indicated by (divers) after the name. To get the rules for the season on many species, click on the season field. Click here  to see the special seasons for various species.

bulletBoat-based anglers are fishermen that fish from boats or vessels of any size or any other type of floating object, including kayaks and float tubes.
bulletShore-based anglers are fishermen that fish from beaches, banks, piers, jetties, breakwaters, docks and other manmade structures connected to the shore.
bulletDivers are spear fishermen entering the water either from the shore or from a boat or other floating object. (to be considered a diver, you may not have any pole fishing gear on your boat, only spear fishing gear)
